Our goal is to be a valuable resource to our customers and our community by providing dependable service, new and exciting products, educational resources - or maybe just a good laugh - in an effort to reinforce the bond between a person and their pet. We seek out products that are good for our pets, as well as, our environment.

Staff
Jeff Laylon, the owner of Cornerstone Pets, has studied and continues to study animal behavior, health and nutrition and has a background in teaching and business.
Before opening Cornerstone Pets he spent 10 years as the VP of Operations for a company that promoted the USA to the international tourism market and then seven years in healthcare administration and wellness.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania and after living in a multitude of other places he has made Hoboken his home since 1990. He has two incredibly beautiful mixed breed rescues, Baxter and Basil that he can’t live without. His love for companion animals is the heart and soul of everything you see in the store.
Meagan, our store Manager doesn't come without experience. She has worked with various animal rights groups and has seen it all. She has rescued everything from pigs to possums. She currently has 3 cats at home and a husband she picked up in Virginia where she is from originally.
Meagan has a genuine love for animals. She is vegan, a Harley rider and voracious reader. Meagan contains a plethora of information on companion animals and is always willing to discuss health and wellness issues if she isn't running out of the store at a moments notice to rescue a cat from underneath a car or a pigeon with a broken wing.
Robert, (Bobby, Robert, Rob) came to us after doing 10 years of bartending. He couldn't bring the bar but his skills keep the floor stocked and the inventory under control.
He has this strange knack for knowing when something in the inventory is not right. He has a tender love for animals and its fun to watch his 6'3” frame melt to the size of a child at the sight of a new kitten or puppy. Rob runs his own dog walking and dog sitting business when he’s not in the store.
Kate, is not a stranger to business and came with an impressive background in the financial industry. Lucky for us, she decided to leave that all behind to work with us for a little kibble and a scratch under the chin. Katie loves to organize. Whoohoo! In fact, she is a little obsessed about organizing. Love it! Besides making the store look good, she loves to read in her spare time (she even goes to the library). She is constantly scouring the internet for the new and unique in the pet industry. Always going above and beyond the call of the wild.
Philosophy
Why Cornerstone? Because that is what our dogs and cats have become.
Much like the stone at the corner of a building uniting two intersecting walls, our dogs and cats have become the Cornerstone of our families and our lives. No matter what goes down, the Cornerstone remains. They are indispensable and fundamental to our lives.
